Frequently Asked Questions
-
The Regulated Family offers evidence-informed parent coaching and family support grounded in occupational therapy and family systems. While my work draws on clinical expertise, services are not psychotherapy or formal assessment. The focus is on practical guidance, regulation, and sustainable family change.
-
I work with both parents and children, with parents positioned as the primary agents of change. Sessions may be parent-only, joint parent sessions, or involve children where clinically appropriate. This approach ensures strategies extend beyond sessions and into everyday family life.
-
Yes. My work and our WIllow support and Willow Plus Chat bots is neuro-affirming and regulation-first, and I regularly support families with children who have ADHD, autism, demand-avoidant profiles, and sensory processing differences.
-
Parent coaching services offered through The Regulated Family are private, self-funded Occupational Therapy services designed to support families using practical, evidence-based strategies. For families accessing services through the NDIS, Occupational Therapy interventions and parent coaching strategies may be implemented to support emotional regulation, behaviour, daily routines, and family functioning. These services are delivered within the scope of Occupational Therapy and are typically funded under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living supports.
-
Yes. Face-to-face services are available in Sydney’s Inner West. Online sessions are also available for families across Australia.

Written summaries and reports can be provided where clinically relevant and beneficial for the parent, caregiver, or child. For example, if developmental concerns have been identified and you are planning to see a paediatrician, we highly recommend completing a comprehensive initial Occupational Therapy assessment prior to your appointment.
As Occupational Therapists, we are able to provide valuable insight into your child’s development, emotional regulation, sensory processing, functional skills, and areas of concern. This information can assist your paediatrician in gaining a clearer understanding of your child’s presentation and support more informed recommendations and outcomes.
In many cases, paediatricians will refer families to an Occupational Therapist for further assessment before continuing the diagnostic or support process. Completing an OT assessment beforehand can often save families significant time, reduce the need for additional appointments, and help maximise the value and effectiveness of your paediatrician consultation.

Every family is different; however, many parents begin noticing positive changes within the first 1–2 weeks when strategies are implemented consistently. Through Willow+ and our face-to-face parent coaching and Occupational Therapy consultations, families are provided with practical, tailored strategies that can be implemented immediately within the home environment.
Following your initial session, most parents report feeling more confident, supported, and clearer on what steps to take to improve their current family dynamic and reduce stress within the home. With ongoing support and consistency, these changes often become more sustainable and meaningful over time.
-
Yes — in some circumstances, families may be able to use NDIS funding for a Willow+ subscription where it is directly related to supporting their child’s disability-related needs and goals. Willow+ is designed as an Occupational Therapy-informed parent support platform that provides practical strategies, emotional regulation support, behaviour guidance, and therapeutic implementation tools for caregivers within the home environment.
For self-managed and some plan-managed participants, Willow+ may be considered under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living supports when recommended as part of a broader therapy approach. Appropriate invoicing can be provided to assist families with claiming where applicable.
Willow+ can also be used alongside face-to-face Occupational Therapy and parent coaching services through The Regulated Family, allowing families to access ongoing support, guidance, and practical strategies between sessions to help improve consistency and outcomes within the home environment.
As every NDIS plan is different, we encourage families to discuss suitability with their Plan Manager, Support Coordinator, or treating therapist.
